![]() ![]() Microsoft calls this Hybrid Shutdown/Fast Startup. On Windows 8/8.1, when you do a regular Shutdown, what it does is actually it logs you out and then hibernates. What's most probably happening is that some program is waking up your PC again. ![]() I can certainly live with it especially given the boost in performance. I have to say that having lived with 8.1 and the Modern UI for a few days now it's an improvement over W8.0 The machine boots straight to the Desktop and I have moved my most used programmes to the main screen, though I don't really visit the Modern UI much at all. I'm not sure what the issue is with CC but it was certainly impairing both my Windows machines. ![]() ![]() Bear in mind the Laptop has no bloatware, only 40 gig used of a 750 gig HDD and with 4 gig of memory with a Quad CPU. I then did the same on my Windows 8.1 Laptop - again the increase in responsiveness has been amazing. The transformation has been startling - boot time for the Windows 8.1 VM is now 45 seconds with full usage by 1 minute. I remembered seeing a post a while back from someone claiming Classic Shell was slowing down their PC, and so having tried a host of other solutions (none of which worked, including a trial upgrade to PD9) I uninstalled Classic Shell. This was also having a knock on effect on the Mac too. For quite some time now I have been having problems with my Parallels Windows VM taking an age to load on my Mac (up to 3 minutes) and then lagging after that. ![]()
